For this post i will be sharing my personal education road map :)
I feel that it is important for us to plan our future so that we will have a target to reach for.
Well, after getting me O level result, i will go to poly.
After that i might want to go to a private local university.
Will see my results first la.
Saying about poly, i have came across the Singapore poly website.
And i find 'Tourism and resort management' interesting.
Why? Because:
- It provides a winning combination in tourism and management skills as well as a broad-based business education.
- Service orientation and real experience is emphasized throughout the course:
1. Year one students undergo a 3-day, 2-night study sea cruise in their first semester to have an "out of class room" orientation and work experience in a 'floating resort'.
- The opening of the two integrated resorts in 2009 will generate much demand for our graduates.
- The first education institution in Singapore to have tied up with Disney World, USA. Several of our students have participated in the Disney International College programme at Orlando, Florida.
- Undergo a 20-week intership programme in the third year.
Cool?
I think its really cool and fun.
But actually theres other courses i am interested in also but this is just one of it to share :)
Next, there are actually alot of Myths and truths about studying in Poly:
1) Poly students cannot get into local universities like NUS/NTU.
- No its not true! You still can get into a local universities but it will be harder because you're fighting with the A Levels students.
2) Poly students are not as successful as JC students.
- NO! Because my sister and friends are all from poly and they are all doing great now! Moreover, researchers have shown that poly students can earn more money than JC graduates.
3) JC is the most supportive for the student atheletes.
- Not true! Because Poly also provide alot of CCAs, some of them are also not found in JC.
Lastly, there will be an open house for SP on the 7-9th Jan! (http://openhouse.sp.edu.sg)
I will be there so you must too! Haha.
I love going to open house because you can get to play free games and get free gifts, lol.
But the most important thing is to really look at the school environment and the courses that they have.
